You know it's a great restaurant from the first bite. The dopamine rush from the ventral tegmental area sends a thrill through your whole body — that lingering feeling stays with you all day. I've known about this place for ages but the parking situation is so bad I always hesitated. Today I braved the illegal parking and gave it a shot. No wonder it was featured on Wednesday Food Talk and so many other shows. As a mandu (dumpling) fanatic who's covered not just Seoul and the metro area but Gyeongsang-do and Chungcheong-do too, this is definitely top-five. The gun-mandu are huge — 8 pieces for 9,000 won. The real test is whether halfway through you think "I still have 4 left" or "only 4 left?" — here, after one piece you're already thinking "only 7 left, what a shame." The buchu-jjinmandu (steamed chive dumplings) have a gorgeous harmony of chives and pork with incredible yukjjeup (meat juices). King of flavor.

Came on my brother's recommendation and it's a legit Chinese restaurant run by actual ethnic Chinese. The buchu mandu (chive dumplings) is the top pick. Others at our table ordered jjamppong so we also got jjajang and ojingeo twigim (squid tempura) with the nephew. Everyone was happy. Only downside — we came during busy lunch hours and rice dishes weren't available, which was a bummer.
