Independence Park is a place where children can ride their bikes with peace of mind and a place where they can laugh and spend time with their parents. Naturally, we learn to be grateful for the patriotic patriots, and on the other hand, the seniors spend leisurely time playing baduk and janggi. Also, the district office occasionally holds concerts, making your time at the park even more enriching. I think it is an even better place because it is a place where daily life, rest, and learning naturally come together.

It's been a while since I visited, and I found out that Dongnimmun Gate was under renovation. I was curious about what kind of unique clothes I would wear during this construction project. In front of the statue of Seo Jae-pil, I picture him reading the Declaration of Independence and think back for a moment to that moment in history. The last picture you see is the site of the prison where excavations are continuing. My heart was solemn as to what kind of prison it must have been like back then and what stories would remain.

It's Seodaemun Independence Park again. You can see it right away when you come out of Dongnimmun Station Exit 3. There's also a Seodaemun Prison History Museum here, so it's useful and good to come and see it. When I tried to go to the Memorial Tower for the Patriotic Martyrs, there was an excavation site of the Seodaemun Prison Gyeongseong Detention Center in front of me. This time, I couldn't go inside. There might be a path if you turn around, but it's cold because it's quite windy (only the wind blows where it blows). Various historical things are on display, including the statue of Yu Gwan-sun. I would like to tell my children as well. It is good to come by public transportation.

It's well maintained, great for a walk, and helpful for studying history.

It's a great place for an outing

Seodaemun Independence Park, Dongnimmun Gate, and the Seodaemun Prison History Museum are all next to each other, so it's a good idea to take a look around them together when you come here. It's a very hot time right now, but there is a restroom attached to the CU convenience store and there are chairs so you can rest. If you have a parasol, hand fan, wet tissues, and cool drinks, you can withstand the heat wave. I went to Seodaemun Independence Park, where you can feel the breath of history and leisure in the city at the same time. From Dongnimmun Gate to the Seodaemun Prison History Museum, there is no better course than this to enjoy a historical trip with your child. ​The walking trail inside the park is flat and lush with trees, making it a recommended walking trail in Seoul. If you take pictures at the square in front of the magnificent Dongnimmun Gate, they come out really pretty, and there are many benches here and there, making it a great place to take a quiet rest. In particular, the night view of Dongnimmun Gate illuminated at sunset is so beautiful that you can't help but admire it, making it a popular date spot. ​It is directly connected to Dongnimmun Station on Subway Line 3, making it highly accessible, and a full day outing can be completed with a restaurant tour of the nearby Yeongcheon Market.

Seodaemun Independence Park is a great space for a leisurely walk in the city. You can feel the history of the independence movement as you walk among the wide lawn and trees, which calms your mind. Dongnimmun Gate is currently under renovation, so it is difficult to see it up close, but the park itself is well maintained, making it great for walking with family and friends and taking pictures. It is also an educationally meaningful place as it has good historical information boards. I want to come back again with a better look after construction!

I went to Seodaemun Independence Park, which is located right in front of Dongnimmun Station in Seodaemun-gu. The subway station and the park are directly connected, so it is very accessible for anyone to find. Unfortunately, the Dongnimmun Gate that I faced as soon as I entered the park was undergoing repair work, so I was a little disappointed that I couldn't see it properly. As I walked along the well-maintained trail, I saw memorial towers and statues commemorating the noble sacrifices of our patriotic martyrs, which made me feel reverent. More than just a resting place, I felt a sense of reverence for our country. It was a more meaningful time than anywhere else as you could fully feel the breath of modern and contemporary history. There is also the Seodaemun Prison History Museum nearby, so it was nice to take a look around, and it was a valuable place where you could enjoy a light walk in the city and reflect on the meaning of history.
