I visited the Okcheonam Rock-carved Bodhisattva Seated Statue located in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. This is also a place where prayers are offered in the form of Buddha sculptures carved into the rocks. Address: 1-38 Hongjimun-gil, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul

A temple in the city center is unique.

On the way to Hongjecheon and Pyeongchang-dong, there is a Hongjecheon walking trail. It's refreshing to be able to take a walk along Pobangteo Market and Bukhansan Mountain Trail. The view of Okcheonam over the stream is also good.

The Okcheonam rock-carved Bodhisattva seated statue is also called Baekbul. This seated statue has a story like this. It is said that a woodcutter prayed for 100 days because he had no spouse, and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva appeared and helped him find a spouse. That is why many people pray in front of this seated statue to meet good people. Without knowing that, I prayed and offered rice to help me meet a good person, but I don't know if my prayers will be heard. This seated statue of Buddha is 5 meters high and carved into a large rock. Looking at old photos, the water flowed right in front of the statue, so if it rained a little too much, it would have hit the statue right away, but since it was carved into a rock, it seems to have remained strong even after a long time.

This rock-carved Buddha has been designated as a treasure. The sound of water flowing in front of it is resonant. I see someone praying quietly.

This is the Okcheon Rock Rock-carved Bodhisattva seated statue, which is said to be a good place for prayer feet at the three major statues in Seoul (Yeonjuam Hermitage on Gwanaksan Mountain and Bomunsa Temple on Seokmodo Island in Ganghwa Island). One cold winter night, I saw a celebrity car and a fully covered woman offering prayers. This is a work from the late Goryeo period, and when viewed up close, it is well preserved and has beautiful overall proportions. There are stories about Lee Seong-gye at the time of the founding of the Joseon Dynasty, anecdotes about battles during the Japanese invasions of Korea, and Gojong in the late Joseon Dynasty.
