I like Gilsangsa Temple on winter weekdays because it is quiet and I can hear the sound of birds. I saw squirrels a few times, but I saw a raccoon today for the first time. I heard the sound of rustling leaves and looked to see a raccoon combing through fallen leaves behind the monk's residence. Although the water was frozen, it was still flowing and I could hear the sound of water. I also found today that out of the four lions supporting the pagoda, two had their mouths open and two had their mouths closed🤭

From a gorgeous fairy to a quiet temple, Gilsangsa Temple is a place where the noise of the city stops 🪷☸️ —— This is ‘Daewongak’, one of the three major fairs in Korea from the 1960s to 1980s. At the time, it was a glamorous and secret social gathering place where political and business figures gathered. The original owner of this place, Mrs. Kim Young-han, who is also known as the lover of the genius poet Baek Seok, was greatly impressed after reading Monk Beopjeong's book "No Possession" and offered to donate the Daewongak site, whose market value at the time was over 100 billion won, without any conditions. After 10 years of persuasion, the place was named after her Buddhist name, 'Good Sanghwa'. There are houses that resemble the shape of a mountain, and a stream flows between them, which naturally reminds me of the splendid appearance of the old days. Good for a walk. It's quiet and you can pray and meditate in the temple.

The purpose of today’s trip to Seongbuk-dong! I came to Gilsangsa Temple. A team member at the company is a Buddhist student, and I remembered that he had said that he really wanted to go to this place because it was where the Buddhist monk Beopjeong lived, so I went there first. Perhaps because it was a holiday, many people came to Gilsangsa Temple. In general, it is not a temple full of the scent of the old days that we know, but because Gilsangsa Temple was built based on a donation to a Buddhist monk in a place previously famous as a restaurant, the building structure is unique and there are many independent buildings for asceticism. If you go up the precincts, you will come to Jinyeonggak, where the monk Beopjeong lived. If you come to Seongbuk-dong, I recommend walking and taking a stroll around Gilsangsa Temple.

I went to Gilsangsa Temple last week on a weekday, and it was so spacious and quiet that it was hard to believe that I was in the city center, so I felt calm for a moment. Since it was a weekday, there weren't many people, so the quiet atmosphere was especially nice. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time, so I regret not being able to take a leisurely look around. Next time, I want to take my time and stay for a long time, like taking a walk, to really feel the atmosphere of Gilsangsa Temple.

I went to Gilsangsa Temple. This is where the monk Beopjeong of Musoyu resided as the head priest and also registered as a monk. So related relics are on display. However, photography is not allowed. It was nice to pray because it was located outside the city center. You will feel peaceful when you go there.

It's quiet in the winter, so it's good to look around quietly. We pay tribute to Buddhist monk Beopjeong, who practiced non-possession at Jinyeonggak.

A place where your mind becomes calm. A temple where just sitting on the grounds is enough.
