This is a place you must stop by when you visit Seokchon Lake or Lotte Department Store. This is a monument with an inscription praising King Taejong of the Qing Dynasty for saving the life of King Injo, who surrendered while isolated in Namhansanseong Fortress during the Manchu War of 1636. At the time, the Qing Dynasty hoped that the epitaph would be written by the best writer in Joseon, but it is said that many people deliberately refused to write it due to illness or lack of skills. The sentence of Lee Gyeong-seok, who later became Yeonguijeong, was decided and has been engraved to this day. I hope you visit this place with a painful history as a way to remember it and prevent something like this from happening again in the future.

The humiliation of King Injo, who crossed what is now Seokchon Lake, which was the main stream of the Songpa River from the distant Namhansanseong Fortress, to Hong Taiji of the Cheongtae sect, and gave him three bows, is an indelible and painful history that still pains us, our distant descendants.

Today, I came out of Exit 2 of Jamsil Station and came to Seoul's "Samjeondo Monument". The body stone was erected on top of a turtle-shaped support stone, and the head stone was decorated with a dragon shape on top. There is a small support stone left next to the monument, which is believed to have been abandoned due to the Qing's request to build a larger monument.

Samjeondobi… A monument erected by the king of the Qing Dynasty to record his accomplishments (bringing Joseon to submission)... Its other name is ‘Monument for Merit of Emperor Daecheong’… I don’t understand why it was rebuilt in 2010… For example, a robber came to my house, robbed everything, and took what he left behind, calling it a cultural asset. This doesn't seem right...

It's a sad and shameful record, but management is too negligent for a historical cultural property. Due to poor explanation and management, there are few visits and interest. I think it is absolutely necessary and important for our descendants, especially for children's education.
