“Walk Chungjang-ro and all of downtown Gwangju connects.”

Chungjang-ro has been Gwangju's central street since the Joseon era; today it's a bustling strip dense with shops, snacks, and cafes. A merchant says, “From here you walk to the ACC, the Dongmyeong-dong cafe street, and Daein Market alike.” The old post-office meeting spot ('Udabang'), the Art Street, and the Chungjang Festival gather Gwangju's downtown culture here. Less a sight than the locals' living downtown — good for getting your bearings on arrival day.
