Jeungsimsa is said to date to the Unified Silla era, Mudeungsan's representative temple. As the mouth of the Jeungsimsa hiking course, hikers pass through — but the grounds alone are serene without climbing. A guide suggests, “See the main hall, the Obaekjeon, and the iron seated Vairocana Buddha, then take a sip of spring water before you go.” Cherry blossoms in spring, autumn color along the valley. Reachable by bus from downtown — a fine half-day outing.
