A yardstick for Sangmu-district hanjeongsik. Namdo's mountain, sea, and plain arrive on one table as twenty-plus dishes. It carries the story of a presidential visit.
“Hanjeongsik isn't the number of dishes — it's how many times a hand touched each one.”
A second-generation Sangmu hanjeongsik house. What began as her mother's small rice-and-banchan spot grew, as regulars multiplied, into a full Namdo table. Hongeo-samhap, tteokgalbi, dried croaker, and ten kinds of namul land at once. The owner says, “A Namdo table is where mountain, sea, and plain sit down together.” Banchan rotate by season — namul in spring, more jeon and salted seafood in autumn. When foreign guests hesitate at hongeo (fermented skate), she steers them to milder dishes first. Most seats are reserved, so the daily count is fixed. “We can't make a table that comes out fast,” is the house rule.

Behind the Signature
Hongeo-samhap wraps fermented skate, boiled pork, and aged kimchi in one bite — Namdo's signature trio. Start with a single piece; the aroma is strong. Tteokgalbi and dried croaker are the mild anchors — alternate with the samhap to balance.
