“It started in Yudong — so here we argue over who's the original.”
Yudong's duck-soup street is where Gwangju oritang began, with a designated 'Yudong duck street.' Gwangju-style: a thick, nutty broth loaded with ground perilla, topped with water dropwort. One owner says, “The whole street is oritang, so we all claim to be the original — but really the perilla-and-dropwort balance differs house to house.” Known as a restorative, busiest in cold and between-season months.
